Accounts Assistant
We require an Accounts Assistant to join our Office Team. In this interesting and varied position, you will assist the Accounts Managers in running the purchase & sales ledgers for the Ransoms businesses as well as recording stock arrivals on our Inventory system.
This role would suit someone with strong Excel and data entry skills who is well organised, time efficient, has good communication skills and is a confident user of Outlook, although we would be open to other candidates who show a willingness to learn and have a sufficiently good level of numeracy and computer software aptitude.
The basic annual salary for this position is £27,885. After successful completion of the 3-month probationary period you will be included in our bonus scheme.
The position is based on a 37.5 hour working week between Monday and Friday but some flexibility in working hours is possible.

Summary
To assist in the smooth running of the Ransom’s Group Sales and Purchase Ledgers entering invoices and managing payments. To liaise with suppliers and credit card companies by email and phone to answer queries and to resolve problems. To enter details of arriving stock into our EPOS system cross checking delivered quantities with supplier invoices.
Key Responsibilities
- Purchase Ledger – To setup new suppliers on the database, code and enter purchase invoices, make supplier payments, issue remittance advices and accurately file purchase ledger paperwork. Monthly statement reconciliations to ensure all invoices have been received and posted to the accounts system. To manage, reconcile and report on petty cash movements for group companies.
- Sales Ledger – To reconcile the daily takings for each Company inputting this data into spreadsheets and into the Sage accounts system. To setup and manage sales ledger accounts on our EPOS system, to process payments received via the bank and to produce monthly statements, chasing outstanding payments when required.
- Credit Card Processing – To support till users with issues relating to the credit card pdq machines and credit card payments liaising with credit cards support companies as required.
- Inventory Management – To input stock arrivals into our EPOS system raising credit claims where necessary. To follow up credit claims and stock discrepancies with suppliers and retail staff. To co-ordinate the stock control schedule updating the system count results and reporting on stock variances.
- Systems Maintenance & Support – To liaise with remote support companies to carry out regular data maintenance tasks and systems support.
Skills and Knowledge Required.
- Highly numerate & accurate
- Good basic Excel skills.
- Fast and accurate data entry skills.
- Confident communication both on the phone and in person.
- Ability to work on own initiative and at pace.
