Potting Shed Sales Assistant
We have a great opportunity for the right candidate to join our small and friendly team at the Potting Shed gift shop.
This is a full-time permanent position based in a great out of town location. We are happy to consider candidates who are looking to work between 28 to 37.5 hours each week over 4 or 5 days. Working days will include one weekend day each week.
This position would suit candidates with previous experience in dealing with customers, are passionate about retail and have proven skills in Sales and Customer Service. Self- motivation with a friendly outgoing nature and excellent spoken English are all essential.

Job Summary: To assist customers in their purchasing requirements in all areas of The Potting Shed, ensuring they can find what they are looking for and being aware of all current promotions and all possible add-on products or similar options. To work with the rest of the Team in making sure the shop is always clean and presented to the highest standards. To take payments via the till and to assist in checking off deliveries when required.
Job Detail:
- To assist customers in selecting the right products for their needs.
- To be able to fully operate a cashier station in a confident and friendly manner.
- To build up an excellent knowledge of the products sold by the business to enable a strong sales performance.
- To provide customers with information on and the benefits of all our range of products.
- To take customer orders for product not currently in stock.
- To actively promote items identified by the Manager as being on offer or that have an upsell or cross sell opportunity.
- To be aware of any items that may go off sale during the day and arrange for extra stock from the Store to replenish the shelves.
- To ensure all stock is clean and neatly displayed, bringing stock to the front of the display area as required.
- Assisting with putting out additional or new stock.
- To ensure that all pricing and labelling is accurate, checking it correlates on price and description when scanning on tills. Requesting additional labels as required.
- To ensure the shop is kept swept, tidy and free of rubbish and obstacles at all times.
- To pack and bag customer purchases and if required, help customers with taking goods to their car.
- To be able to answer the phone and take messages in a courteous and efficient manner.
- To assist in the stores department with checking in stock when busy.
- To assist in stock taking in shop and store.
